Rewriting History etc

Yes – aired before, but it keeps on coming.

Received a book today – They flew Hurricanes – within 30 seconds, find that Photo 9b does not show Sqn Ldr Tony Rook, but Sgt Ibby Ward.

Photo 5 repeats the fanciful idea that Arthur Clowes added a stripe to his wasp nose art with each victory. So he had nine kills by 1940? Where would the tenth go?? And where & when was the wasp without stripes??? I do not believe that they messed around with such things in France. And when did Darkie become Taffy????

That made me look elsewhere. Within the same timescale, No 1 Squadron lists Stavart for Stavert, but also shows something of interest – facing p.9 – Arthur Clowes in France with no wings. How come, please??
