Hi all, been given this photo of B-17 somewhere in England during WW2, but i’m stuck as to where it is? The notes on the left hand side in the border say “Boeing B-17 maintenance”
Strange thing is the place looks familiar… Binbrook but i know that its not:confused:
please help

Since i posted the above photo this morning i have recived an overall view of Honington that seems to confirm the first one as Honington…the nissan huts have yet to be built (presumably the foundations are there or they are just out of shot) the windsock is in the right place and the first pic may have been taken from the control tower
Again this pic is public domain so if you want a copy just PM me 🙂

I’d say either Bassingbourn or Honington – and my money is on Honington.

My immediate thought is Honington, this pic on wiki looks very similar, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Honningtonairdepot.jpg and the article mentions its B-17 repair depot status.

I am 99.9 percent sure that your picture is in the book shown in this link. Sadly I loaned my copy a few years ago and never had it returned.
