Might not be directly related, but this caused a bit of a stir!
I note no-one has commented that the pic seems to be taken from the driver’s side….

Got to feel that a team from JARTS are very likely to have been involved.

Excellent news. Can’t offer any of her recovery but here’s a poor scan of XV586 in 1971 from my collection.

XV586 finally left Leuchars yesterday, and was spotted heading south on the M5 today.

The museum (of which I’m quite familiar with), its existing Phantom, and the fact that this one won’t be going there (post#11) has all been discussed previously in the thread.:)
I don’t think anyone has confirmed that it will be a gate guard either.

Have you not read the thread right through, particularly post #11?
yes so its gona be a guard, but they have a museum there also, did you click the link

certainly, RMAllnutt suggested it was for gate duty, but they have a museum there also

You’re going to have to explain that one TT?!
certainly, RMAllnutt suggested it was for gate duty, but they have a museum there also http://www.fleetairarm.com/ so it could possibly go inside, except it already has a phantom XT596 which may be doubling things up? http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?regsearch=XT596

The raspberry ripple phantom at boscombe is the exception i think as it was never a service aircraft however, i believe that all phantoms in museums are still on the “books” hence why i mentioned inventories

I for one look forward to the RNHF operating a Phantom…
It’d be the most potent aircraft the Navy had now… 🙁

slightly off topic but are YAM still trying to get hold off XV499 from RAF Leeming?
