East German MIG's impact on NATO tactics

Dear all,

Another historic question:

When the (former) East German airforce got incorporated into the unified German Airforce and used as the aggressors (in the real thing: their MIG-29’s), I could imagine that the impact on NATO tactics must have been significant.

If the East German pilots were “aggressive” aggresors, flying top of the range Russian a/c and complying with Russian doctrine, it must have been a very different experience to all.

Now, was it? Did NATO anyway have the game under control?

Or was it not relevant anymore to test against the Russian line of a/c?

Yours,
