It’s entirely possible he has spent time actually…wait for it… doing aircraft rebuilds and flying instead of talking/reading or griping about how others do it.

He’s known in C130 circles, specifically with A models. But surely anyone who spent 5 minutes online could find where warbird mechanics lurk? He must have heard of the various museums & restoration groups at some point in the past 30 years? It’s not a case of him being an insider or not.
