I’m looking for phoitos mainly of the ignition wiring harness. I have a few pics, but none show the harness detail very clearly especially for the wiring to the center spark plugs. I need this to detail the engine on a model i’m building.
Thanks,
John

Pete, it appears that all the spark plug leads on the upper harness come out of one side with the leads on the right bank going under the main harness. Is this correct? Also where does the upper harness attached to the engine.
Thanks,
John

Hi Steve
We did two of these for the same customer using mostly parts he already had, including the Russian Mk9 engine (can`t remember the serial!). The intercooler in the foreground is the one with the integral tank, and it is a D-numbered Rolls-Royce one, so it is either from something like a Merlin 85 or it is a 66 type which has had the port side panel changed at some point.
Intercoolers from 100 series engines do have the integral tank but are smooth, ie without the criss-cross bracing, so I am not quite sure what it comes off.
Thanks for pointing that out, I had forgotten about it.
Likewise, the ignition harness on the engine in the background is a later type (Argonaut) and would not be on a Merlin 60 series.

Peter – whats going on with the inter-cooler on that engine -looks like a Packard 266 type integral header tank?

MerlinPete, thanks. This and other photos of your rebuild were what I was looking for and answered a couple of other questions I also had. Again many thanks
This forum has become my go to place for info on WWII RAF A/C.
Cheers

This is a Merlin 66, only major difference is the carburettor.
Harness is the same.
