Right, as a way of heading off any ‘that’s wrong’ comments after the event, as an appeal for information AND as a chance to harness the combined knowledge of this forum towards a practical end – this is the layout of wing ribs that we are going for on our Hurricane.
With regard to the positioning of the strengthening members within the wing ribs, we are working from surviving fragments and photographs only. However, some photographic sources do contradict each other!
So – does anyone out there have any primary sources that definitively rule out the general designs below? Perhaps the ‘missing (to us) bits of AP1564A Volumes 2 and 3? If not – then this is how it’s going to be! (I still wish we could get into the Science Museum’s example).

OK, thanks all for looking – we’ll start fabricating ribs tomorrow. Hope I didn’t give the impression that our working plans were drawn on the back of a ciggy packet one afternoon – it’s the general arrangements (of which these are a synthesis of several different photographs that were chosen because they agree – many don’t) that I was checking.
