This morning a memorial plaque to Flying Officer H P M Edridge was handed over to Dixter House, a historic home in the county where Hilary Edridge of 222 Squadron (Spitfires) lost his life on 30 October 1940.
I have been involved in trying to get this organised for the past 18 months, and we had intended to have a little ceremony involving family etc this summer. That fell by the wayside due to lack of interest/support from the Parish Council and so now we will have a dedication event next summer.

The quality of the plaque photograph dosen’t matter, it’s the quality of the plaque itself that counts, and it is very good indeed !! Many thanks for showing this Andy. The very best of wishes in getting it dedicated next year with better local interest, and support from the parish council.

Being the 11th today, I nipped over to Witton cemetery in Birmingham, as I always do, to visit the grave of Sergeant N G Crabtree who died when his Wellington flew into the Balloon Barrage and crashed in the Erdington area. I also took the time to pay my respects to Sergeant L A Garvey who was killed on the 31st October 1940 whilst flying with 41 Squadron.
