Late 1940s Douglas Skystreak Escape System – would it work?

Folks,

I know they were trying out about ever conceivable idea after World War Two for a pilot escape system from jet aircraft that would work, but while I am no aviation engineer or any other type of engineer, this breakaway nose escape system(see bottom of page) designed for the Douglas Skystreak seems to me would not have work in an actual high speed emergency. The article caption states the nose section jettisons with the pilot in an emergency and then when the the nose section slows down, the test pilot bails out like from an slower aircraft. I would think that nose section after separation would be gyrating very violently to the point the test pilot would black out. I wonder if the designers considered having metal like petals pop out the back section so it would be like a bad-mitten birdy? Or do I have it all wrong???
