Hello,this is my first post,don´t know were to go,I´m from Argentina and study history of flight,and identified an “unknown” Supermarine Spitfire MK V BL655 (FJ-B) wreckage exhibited in Lincolnshire Heritage Centre.It´s an aircraft from 164 Argentine-British squadron RAF sqn ” Firmes Volamos “.The plane it´s the ” Hurlingham ” according to the name of a traditional place in Buenos Aires,the pilot`s name is Ronnie Sheward,argentine ace from 2º W.W.It`s a totally historical aircraft.Please Help me.

Thanx for the reply, i know relationship between our two nations are not good enough this days,but found kind of frustrating not to have any contact whit official sources like RAF. or FAA.please sombody help me.
Sorry didn´t know that another pilot was killed,just assumed Sheward jumped out of the plane.i think (not sure) he`s alive here in Argentina and having maybe 94-96 years old.

According to ‘Gifts of War’ by Henry Boot and Ray Sturtivant.
Hurlingham was presented by the British community in Argentina through the ‘Wings for Winston Foundation of Buenos Aires’ and took the name from a sports centre. One of three Spitfires subscribed by residents of Olivos an Hurlingham as part of the British Patriotic und in Argentina.
TOC 9 MU 4/2/42 and allocated 416 Squadron . Cat Ac damage when Sgt CSG de Nancrede forgot to lower the undercarriage during night flying training 3/4/42. Repaired on Site from 8/4/42, returned to flying duties 13/4/42 until passed to 602 Sqn 15/7/42. Joined detachment of 164 Sqn (Argentine British), coded FJ*B at Tangmere 11/9/42 where it is thought the naming ceremony took place. 3/2/43 transferred 341 Sqn but went to Scottish Aviation next day for repair and awaited collection 13/3/1943. Sent to 45 MU 18/3/43 and to Vickers Armstrong 30/3/43 for fuel system mods and wing stiffening. 8/5/43 to 33 MU and 129 Sqn until 11/6/43. when it returned to 416 Sqn. 1/7/43 Flg Off Norman Alexander Watt killed when BL655 spun out of cloud six miles east-south-east of Digby, and failed to recover. Crash sited was excavated 1989.
Book has photograph, uncredited, and miscaptioned as 174 (Argentine British) Squadron.
