I saw this and wondered if anyone could throw any light on it, it looks like the real thing to me rather than a replica, and it’s certainly not an E model as the caption suggests.

Many thanks to all for clearing this up, mystery solved. 🙂

The general appearance is very similar to the Messerschmitt Foundation’s static Bf 109-G2. That particular airframe is a converted Ha 1109 1-KL, serial 54, and was used for ground scenes in the BoB movie which were never aired.
Interesting history, and beautiful in silver!

Not a replica as such, she is indeed mostly Buchon, a fascinating variant of the 109 in it’s own right.
I believe she was converted to Gustav standard back in the 80s or 90s and operated by MBB as was then. I understand she was grounded and relegated to static display after a landing accident.

You’re probably thinking of the flyable Buchon/’109G-6 they have, D-FMBB, which DID suffer an accident, was rebuilt (using another fuselage, I think) and flew again.

DazDaMan and Wiessoo are correct:
It’s a (very rare) Hispano Ha 1109 (c/n 54) which belongs to the Messerschmitt Foundation. I believe it spent several years in the open at the MBB facilities in Augsburg and was then restored/converted to represent a Bf 109G-2. It went on display at a museum in Munich painted in green primer only, acquired a camouflage scheme without markings and then the odd all-over silver scheme shown in the photo.
It’s used as a travelling, strictly static exhibit and has never flown while in Germany.

Re-constituted Buchon

Bf109G EADS Replica
probably the EADS G-2 Ha1109 K-1L, Werknummer 54, 1948

I could be well wrong here, but it’s neither…
I believe it’s a converted Hispano Buchon, possibly owned by EADS. It’s certainly been kicking around for a few years at some of the European shows.

Caption says “replica”
