Any experts on Dunlop numbers out there?

We’ve been spending a little more time going through our pile of Dunlop stuff and have identified some interesting bits including Spit, Hurricane and Sea Fury/Tempest stuff. However, wer’re still lost as to the application of a great deal of the bits. If folks don’t mind I’ll come back every so often and see if anyone recognises any of the numbers in an effort to get these bits back into use.

Now, if anyone recognises the numbers AHO8219 or AH7166 please let me know what you think – it’s a brake shoe housing. I’m guessing it may, possibly, be Vampire, but other than that I’m lost for ideas.

As always, any help very much appreciated.

Thanks,

George

Dunlop bits

The first port of call for information was Dunlop, the second was the RAF Museum. Both drew a blank sadly.

OK, a few other numbers:

AHO35387 – brake bag

AHO89474 – brake lining

AHO17411, 27G/4619 – brake bag

27G/4675 – brake bag

and a brake relay valve, Mk III, 27G/2585. Part number appears to be AC12734.

As always, any help much appreciated!

Hi George,
May I suggest the D.O.R.I.S. section of the RAF Museum, Hendon?
Many years ago, I spoke to Ken Hunter, who had been compiling a list of A.H. numbers, for many years. Ken retired some years ago, but he may have passed his notebook on to one of his colleagues, there.
Good luck.
Doug.
