F/Lt Walter Jones,Air Experience Flight

Having coffee with a friend today,I showed her a photo of a flying-boat that I’d taken at Duxford.
Before her eyes totally glazed over,she said that she’d always meant to go to Duxford ” because that’s where my Dad’s aeroplane is “.
I believe she said that it was a Mosquito that her late father had flown in,but it was the next thing she said that was most interesting.
During the war he had joined the RAF and learned to fly in Canada,I think having experience in Lancasters ( I wasn’t taking notes,so I might have got the aircraft wrong ).
He returned to the UK just as the war was ending,and later became an instructor with the Air Experience Flight.She remembers as a child spending hours with her mother waiting for her father to land after instructing at various places,the only two I can remember her mentioning being Shoreham and Coltishall.
Most poignantly,she said that it had been her father’s dream to pilot a Spitfire,but the war had ended before he achieved his ambition.The one and only time that he’d ” flown ” in a Spitfire was when Carolyn Grace had carried his photo in the Grace Spitfire which performed a flypast at his funeral.
Does anyone have any memories of being taught by him ?
