To avoid confusion, this is the second NZ-based Venom registered as ZK-VNM, the first was written off a number of years ago.

A Venom on it belly isnt necessarily a bad thing – used to happen all the time when they were in service.
SO long as the wings arent damaged; otherwise it could well be game over.

:)Well hopefully on a postive note if she is being repaired it hopefully isn’t too bad.Could’ve been taking it away for parts or scrap.
Best wishes to them all.

Latest apparently is that the Venom is still at Hood, awaiting transport to Palmerston North for repairs. Sad news for the owner and the community, she looks in fine fettle in a YouTube video I have seen from October.

If you read further on in the thread you’ll see the Vampire was repaired overnight and displayed the next day.
Any news on the Venom?

Bizarre incident! Sad to see one let alone two jets down. Hopefully both the Vampire, and the Venoms rather more extensive damage can be repaired.
Have to say that L-39 looks to be mighty close behind the Vampire in those landing shots!

Yes the Vampire had a tyre blow out on landing, but came to a stop off to one side of the runway. Whether this had anything to do with the Venom incident which followed isn’t clear.

I’m sorry to have to report that this aircraft was badly damaged in a landing accident at Hood airfield last Friday. Thankfully the pilot is ok.

Have i read the link correctly ,the Vampire had a tyre blowout and damage just before the Venom came to grief.Did the Venom come to grief because of the Vampire on the runway?
Sorry if i am misreading the situation, first i had heard of them.

:D:D Can you imagine this even being considered in the UK?…..
Funny, when we hear about all the barriers and regulations and rubbish being imposed against human rights overseas, we think, “Can you imagine this even being considered in New Zealand?”.
The first Venom flamed out while taking off, went through the fence, across the road, and into the trees on the farm across the road, which during the war was my grandparents’ farm. Thankfully the pilot was ok.

No barrier. This is Kiwiland.
We use commonsense instead.ZK-VNM/1 was ex-Swiss J-1634 and a Venom Mk.1
Came to NZ in 1986, Cr on t/off Ardmore 17Nov91.
What happened to VNM/1 – did it hit someone walking across the runway??

Great, you are lucky to live there, in this beautiful country.
We used to be like that too, in Switzerland, until a few years ago.
Now, it’s almost finished, as our society is getting changed very fast 🙁
P.S. if the owner of this Venom repaints one day his aircraft and still wants to keep a colorful scheme, he should try a “Lindi” 😀

We always hope that if anyone does wander onto the runway, he will be a Lawyer.
If that is the case, then there is no real loss to society.

Common sense? what a radical idea!!!! We need to try that here in the USA, not sure how well it would go over though.

Thanks for that. Intrigued by the video – it looks as though the spectators could wander onto the runway if they were foolish enough…………or did I miss a barrier?
