Hi Guys,
Me and a friend are visiting the Kent Battle of Britain Museum and Battle of Britain Memorial on Sunday. It will be our furst time and are travelling from Oxford so doubt we will be down that way again for a while, can anyone suggest any other point of interest to visit whilst down there.
I particularly would like to see any of the original Chain Radar installations that are still in the area, if so can anyone provide a google map location?
Thanking you all in advance guys.

Hope you have a great time Wondy…on Sunday we will be at the delightful Shoreham Aviation Museum run by Geoff Nutkins….as this is the last day of the BoB we have planned a superb BoB pilgrimage!
If you head back clockwise on the M25, pop in to Geoff’s museum as it is absolutely delightful and the cakes are fab!!
Have fun and look forward to seeing your pix!

Just want to say thanks to everyone for kindly responding. Im really looking forward to Sunday now and can plan a nice circular route heading down to the Battle of Britian museum then continuing up to Dover to see the other various mentioned sites and dog legging back to Dartford on route back to Oxford.
Thank you all again.

if you carry on up from Dover past the radar masts – continue past Sandwich you can visit the museum and memorial at Manston which are only a few miles up the road. – then toodle off home down the A2/M2 past Reculver Sands and back to Dartford.

If you do head for Dover, follow the main road past the docks and out of the town, the old CH masts are on top of the hill to your left, while if you head off to the right you will find an excellent viewing area over the harbour. There is a cafe and toilets and you can easily waste half an hour watching the ferries.

The radar masts were visible for miles if you head for Dover – but I believe that one has been taken down, so I think it’s just two standing now. Very distinctive, even without the “arms”. But just drive towards Dover along the A2 and if the MOD haven’t done for them, you can’t miss them.
