Crash near Mnt Snowdon 1945

Hi all I’m just back from a few days in Snowdonia and whilst on a drive through the Llanberis Pass in noticed a plaque in memory of 5? US Airmen killed in Feb 1945.
Does anyone know of the circumstances of this incident.
