Replica Spitfire crashes, 1 dead.

A shame, really, as I think the type has had a very clean record up until now, with just a few minor incidents to speak of.

Built in Australia, in the early 90’s the Mk.25 came first at 75% scale all aluminium ‘replica’ followed by the Mk.26 two seater at 80% and now there is the Mk.26B at 90% also a two seater, most powered by a V6 or a V8 with around 100 kits flown / constructing worldwide, with 10 (?) complete in the UK

Most unfortunate. Another accident at Watts Bridge. 🙁

These scale Spitfire replicas come in two seater or single seat versions I understand. AFAIK, none have been used in TV programmes relating to the original type, there being ample two-seat originals in the UK, and apart from a distant external look these ‘Mk.26’ aircraft have very little to do with the real thing, although they are clearly a popular recreational type.

That was a 2 seat full size original machine, hopefully tucked up in its hangar.
