Hi all,
Recently purchased a framed display of ED925 AJ-M, from a reputable source but now it’s arrived I’m a little concerned – there is an access panel from the aircraft included in the display, with obvious crash damage and green paint remains, it measures approx 5″ x 4″.
Now what worries me slightly is the part number stamped on it, it reads:
30000 – 083 2
I’m not an expert in part numbers by any means but this said Spitfire to me? Am i right to worry about this or is it ok? I did have a fair amount of Lanc wreckage, but have recently passed it on, so I have nothing to compare it to.
Like I said, it came from a well respected seller and the card in the frame states it was picked up from the crash site in the early 80’s.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Having taken this picture and zoomed in, it looks to me like
30008 -being Mk1 Spitfire, not a Dams Lancaster.
Would you agree?

Slight correction on the number on the piece – pics to follow later today.
The number reads:
30000 – 4083 2
Any ideas anyone??!

I’m actually just waiting for a new lead to be able to connect my camera to the computer, bad timing!
I will post a pic up over the next few days, it’s very hard to focus on the part number though as it’s recessed behind the glass, will give it a go though.

30000 does sound Spitfire, but is missing the identifier. Spitfire parts usually have the type number – eg 300, 349 etc, followed by two digits, eg 08 is wing. They then have a further number beyond that which is the specific part number.
Post us a picture; it may then become obvious.
