Warbird and reenactors downunder – some news

Here my is new facebook page i created to enable people around the world to follow the display and education events which i am involved with in the Australian warbird community.

(I also write for the bi montly published Australian Pilot / APOA magazine – http://www.aopa.com.au/magazine – their warbird news column and submit an occasional article when times allows me).

It has taken me around 3years to get in touch and organise/work throu the details of my flightgear displays with the most various Australian museums and warbird owners. I do it to enable the Australian public the chance to view a glimpse into the past.. what i do is rarely seen and still a new concept in Oz.
Overseas in UK and USA – its very well known and common.

I benefit from these working relationships i have established, as its enables me to display at museums, fly in events and airshows. I have gotten up close with some rare aircraft and have got plans to fly in them when time and money permit.

The displays i do allows the general public outside of the warbird community, the chance to learn about how the warbird era machine/pilot worked together in the past wars and peacetime operations.

The museums and warbird owners i work with benefit by getting advertising on my webpage thus getting exposure to the appropiate market channel.

For me, 2010 has been a relatively quiet year for with only 1 major event attended ….where as 2009 had a few.

The big outcome for 2010 so far was gaining the RAAF – Royal Australian Air Force as a key supporter for my displays. It took a while a few months to acheive an outcome but it was worthwhile the wait on approvals.

Something not many overseas or local living history groups could claim is having a connection with their national air force supporting them i think? Maybe im wrong.

I am working with the RAAF to develop plans for their 2011 RAAF airshow season to encourage, show and hopefully inspire future kids and adults who may wish to become pilots and technical trade people by having a go / hands on interaction with my ALSE displays.

2011 is looking like i will be travelling on the road with my ALSE historical colleciton to a number of events all going well … from SA to QLD and around NSW.
