Copies of RAF logbooks?

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows of any companies who will produce copies of RAF logbooks?

My Grandfathers are looking really tatty (seeing as the oldest ones are from the early 40’s!) and I would be interested in getting someone to copy them before they get destroyed!

Any suggestions?

One option is to reproduce it electronically either by scanning or by digital photopgraphy.

I have done this several times with a number of 607 squadron logbooks.

This has the advantage of being able to produce several copies for family members either in hard copy or on disk.

The original can the be rightly safely stored and so thereore be afforded a greater degree of protection.

The hard copies could also be bound to produce a replica logbook. Many of the Universities have departments that carry out book binding to bind Phd Theses.

Hello AJW,

I remembered reading about having logbooks re-bound on the Military Aircrew section of PPruNe, have a look at this: http://www.pprune.org/search.php?searchid=6934481

I have no suggestions if the pages are becoming tatty, other than there were antique document restorers showing their work on a recent BBC2 series dealing with restoration of antiques in general. Hope that helps.
