X4560 PR-H in 609 Sqn following the landing mishap of P/O Zbigniew Olenski (Polish) on 8 November 1940.

The crash site is behind the East Lodge at the Botanical Gardens and was being flown by a Rhodesian, Arthur Westcombe Searle, of 123sqn. The dig ran out at around 8ft with only small pieces being found.

Spitfire X4560 was being flown by John Bisdee of 609sqn on the 7/10/40 when he shot down an Me.110 which crashed at Cerne Abbas. Does anyone know any further details on the Me.110 ?

Actually it can’t. 🙂

Only this week another Spitfire Memorial with substantial remains turned up in ‘Central Europe’.

The book however is in directory format with strategic pages set aside for notes or clippings.

Just like the Telephone Directory, Yellow Pages and ‘Wrecks and Relics’ it will become dated.

Although ‘G-ORDY’ has vowed never again, The data base will be maintained, new ‘in service’ images will surface, old images will be refreshed and by 2015…who knows.

So it doesn’t sound as if anything substantial was located
