Maybe not what you might call “historic” in terms of age, but potentially historic in terms of what the future might hold:
the experimental Solar Impulse (HB-SIA) just flew past my house on its way into Geneva airport. This innovative, and giant (span 63m, only 1m less than a 747-400), aircraft has already flown overnight recently, only powered by solar panels, and will set off on a round-the-world flight in 2012 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_Impulse_project).
For such a large plane, the only noise was a gentle hum from its four engines and a minimum whistle through the air.
Hope the mods will let this one through!
