Just a heads-up:-
“Battle of Britain – The South Coast Trail”
Tonight, Tues 21 September, at 8pm.
Might be of interest, although probably most unlikely to provoke such extensive debate or interest as First Light, the McGregor Brothers or David Jason!!!
This was originally a regionally made programme (BBC South) that was selected by the BBC Commissioners for national transmission as part of its Battle of Britain season.

Well, I realised you were involved on camera! What I meant was, did you have any influence on the choice of background combat footage? Or is that just left to the researchers?

Howard Tuck, the presenter, is an ex RAF officer (wounded in Gulf War II) and a Dr of History….just to answer your question, Slicer!
Dunno about anyone from this forum. I forgot to read the credits! 😉

Very enjoyable programme. Is the main presenter a historian? I also agree that the original WW2 footage seemed far more relevant to the commentary at all times with appropriately selected gun camera footage etc, and not the usual lazily selected stuff. Was there input from an esteemed forum member by any chance?

He is WELL over 7ft. I am not exactly short, but felt like a midget by comparison!

Another excellent programme for which the BBC should be applauded.
Just one thing though, how tall is Howard Tuck? He seemed to tower over everyone, including Andy.

The moustache hasn’t aged at all, Mark! Come to think of it…neither have you!
My barber has some special stuff to dye it a fashionable grey/sliver…a close match to the Firenza proto. 🙂

A Mk12 version of Peter Wyngarde!
He also had a minor role in the “Battle of Britain South Coast Trail”, too.
Mark12, that is. Not Peter Wyngarde!

Does German television run similar programes and give credit to the British aircrews like this program did?

Sadly, one or two faces no longer with us.
