WWII Luftwaffe Pilot Books

The BBC programme on the BofB featuring Lufwaffe pilots co-incides with my reading ‘I Flew For The Fuhrer’ by Heinz Knocke (my edition 1966), which gives a graphic insight of Knocke’s flying against mainly British and American foes in WWII. I also enjoyed reading ‘Schauffer Ace of Diamonds’ by Peter Hinchcliffe which reveals much about night fighter flying over the same period.

What other books about Luftwaffe pilot’s are out there? It’s probable that many are embedded within general accounts of Luftwaffe activity.

The Blond knight of Germany

The first and the last

The Final hours

Rocket fighter

Stuka pilot (Unlike a lot of pilots Rudel is very pro nazi and political, the book however is still interesting and worth reading)

Hi Rich
The Gentleman on the far left of post 2 (ie LH on 1st pic) on this thread ……

http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=103192

– is Hajo Herrman,he was a Luftwaffe Bomber pilot and also originator of the ‘Wilde Sau’ (or Wild Boar if you prefer) single engined night fighters – he was an operational bomber pilot during the Spanish Civil war !
His autobiography (Eagles Wings) is a bit of a slow starter – but about a quarter of the way through it starts to get very interesting, highly recommended for cold winter nights !
