Battle of Britain day loss remembered

Today a 13 year old girl followed in her father’s footsteps co-ordinating the recovery of Sgt Leslie Pidd’s Hurricane in the grounds of her school at Kent College Pembury. His hurricane P2836 was shot down in combat with Me110’s over Tunbridge Wells at 3.10pm on the 15th September 1940

The site was originally excavated in the 1970’s with a propeller hub being recovered by the Brenzett museum.

Today’s excavation was attended by family members, recovering a host of perfectly preserved artefacts from the hurricane and cockpit area. A service and unveiling of a memorial plaque at the school will take place on the 70th Anniversary with the whole school and 30 members of the family in attendance together with both TV, press and radio coverage, ending with a Hurricane fly past.

All the above has taken Victoria Vizard many months to organise, and is a tribute to her dedication in remembering the Few

πŸ™‚ I am guessing she is the daughter of this chap
http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/hampshire/hi/people_and_places/newsid_8891000/8891591.stm but it might be nice if it could be put in for people who don’t know as i am only guessing by the uncommon surname.:)
Are there any photos of the recovered artefacts themselves?
Well done to her ,one hell of a show and tell at school that one LOL πŸ˜€
