VDM Paddle Props/Ducted Spinners v Hamilton Standards

Any reason for the Luftwaffe favouring VDM wide chord paddle type propellers over the standard high twist Hamilton Standards found on Allied fighters? It appears ducted spinners was another idiosyncratic Luftwaffe preference although most were found on prototype versions of FW-190 and I think they were a technological blind alley to say the least.
