I know this marvelous BBC series & this particular show has already run in the UK…but I came across it tonight on YOUTUBE………….great play on many WW II films ………………and the arrival of the three British host to take on their rival German counterparts is just outstanding. So many great references to clasic lines from many WW II films…………….just darn clever television at its best ! This one gets its own emmy in my book!!!!!!!!!!!!! Clarkson is unreal…. when suggesting in taking on this challenge by their German rivals .that the skies of southern England would do nicely for just such a match……….. LOL !!!! Great
shots of the three host arriving in Spitfires!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love TOP GEAR !!!! The shot of James May dropping dirt gravel out of his pants legs a la The Great Escape in one challenge was just to much !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That episode is absolutely priceless. What about the part where the soundman’s arm comes off (literally)?
That bit’s hilarious. Somehow, the 633 Squadron music is wonderfully appropriate!

The first review states it’s 235 minutes and on two discs.
All the TG challenges DVDs are rollicking good value, but we are lucky (not all will agree!) in the UK that Top Gear is played endlessly on various satellite channels for free!

BBC Top Gear Vs The Germans Program
Found this for sale on Amazon.co.uk but the number of programs listed say its all on one disc and is 30 minutes long??????????? That can’t be right ? Anyone have this disc yet ? Thanks for all the great replies to my original post…..Faulty Towers takes to the air…………….. still laughing at all the great bits here. One of the best concepts for a show to come out of the BBC in years. The one coming out in the USA will be hard pressed to match the quality and humor in this program. Darn Clever Television…………

Fantastic television! Had me in hysterics some of the references and remarks they were coming out with 😀 :diablo:

I think that the faces of May and that midget say far more than the verbal diarrhoea of Clarkson, sometimes less is more

what about this, same one…?
if i remember it may have been part of the programme that went out but there have been heavy eddits since by the pc brigade
the version that goes out now has this part removed and has had the battle of britain and 633 squadron music replaced by nice pc classical music
( even though it just is not right !! )
glad the original poster found the version that is un edited it is so much better
kiffs arm falling off had me in hysterics ( even though i was called sick cos i have disabled arms )

I think I’m right in saying that they of course had flights in the Spits, but didn’t actually go over to Germany in them?
as they said it was filmed in belgium , i was bad at geography but know it isn’t quite as far !!

As one of Pagens naysayers to Top Gear, I am afraid I can’t possibly respond to this thread as I’m too busy catching up with various bits of the programme on You Tube.

Probably because it wasn’t in RAF colours? 😉
And here’s the aforementioned Top Gear outtakes:
And I personally like the 19 Squadron colours on PV202… 😉

Well it was a real great episode, but i wonder why they intended to leave the dutch one out of the shots… (with the red spinner, the one Jon Romain has, H-99 i remember correctly)…. To bad it’s now repainted in a UK one… It should be returned to it’s Irish glory ;)…
Cheers,
