The "Letchworth" Spitfire

The local Heritage Museum are running an exhibition on “Letchworth at War” and there is reference to a Spitfire paid for by local contribution and named “Letchworth”. A photograph shows it as W3248 and is described as a Spitfire Vb.
What I found surprising was that it was allegedly converted to a Seafire IIB with the serial PA113 and was shipped to Portugal after the war. Can anybody confirm this history and it’s final fate?
