As you may know, Dr. Donald N. Frey passed away March 2010. He was considered by many to be the “Father of the Ford Mustang” auto. Before working at Ford Motors USA he worked at Packard Motors on a Packard version, V-1650, of the Rolls-Royce Merlin aircraft engine that was used in later models of the Spitfire and Hurricane aircraft that served the British Royal Air Force so well during the Battle of Britain. Later, he joined the US Army and served as an officer until after the end of the Second World War.

P-51 Mustang
F-82 Twin Mustang
Dr. Frey’s father was chief metallurgist at John Deere, and Donald studied
engineering and metallurgy at Michigan State and Univ. of Michigan.
This message is for anyone who would consider doing a memorial flight tribute to Dr. Frey on Saturday Sept. 4, 2010 (weather permitting) around the Mustang Club of America Nationals Auto Show at the Biltmore Estate, Asheville NC USA. The estate is bordered by I-40, I-26, Hwy 25, and the Blue Ridge Parkway, which could serve as guides. The Asheville airport is nearby. Possibly a second fly around upon departure could be done.
