On the 3rd March 1944 462 Sq became 614 Sq in order to free up 462 for an Australian unit in the UK. It continued to operate Merlin-engined Halifaxes, with a large contingent of Australian crews, and became the target marking force for 205 group. They carried out their last operation on 3rd March 1945.
