The Cold War museum are having an Open Day on Sunday 1st August,as well as the museum being open which is situated in the former hardened command post there will also be guided airfield tours by bus.
The tours will allow viewing of areas of the former USAFE base which include the Hush House (engine test building),Hot Row (former nuclear bomb store),Star Wars building,Victor Alert Barns etc.
Also on the tour the museums Jaguar GR.1 XX741 will be parked outside the former 527th Aggessor Squadrons hardened aircraft shelter which still has the units Soviet Bear emblem painted on the outside of the shelter doors,the museums ex Spanish Air Force Piper Navajo fuselage will also be visible.
The area outside the museum – Everett Aero will have one or two aircraft on static display, also ex-military vehicles,fire engines,local aviation museum stalls,Woodbridge Air Training Cadets excellent bbq and a Bar serving real ale 🙂 …..plenty for the kids to do as well.
Entry is £5 per adult,children free. Airfield Tour is £2.50 per seat. Event opens at 10.00 and closes at 16.00
