Edith Maud Cook Midlands TV tonight – 14 July

BBC’s “Midlands Today” (18.30 – 19.00) will carry a feature on Edith Maud Cook in the programme tonight (14/07/10).

Apparently the first British woman to fly solo (learnt in France) she became a parachutist.

100 years ago today she died in a parachuting accident in Coventry. I seem to remember that a group in Ipswich are/have created a memorial to her (her birthplace?).
