I’m looking for any information regarding the circumstances in which the following three airmen met their deaths.
Sgt. George William Lewis. 6th December 1942. He was with 139 Squadron and I believe the Squadron was flying the Mosquito by then. He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
F/Sgt. Harry Pearson. 26th June 1944. He was flying with 86 Squadron on Liberators. He is remembered on the Runnymede Memorial.
F/Sgt. Charles Ernest Forrest. 28th April 1942. He was an Air Gunner and is buried at St. John’s Churchyard, Byley, Cheshire.
Information on any of these men would be much appreciated.

Hi, sorry, my mistake, just put in the Name and initials and Squadron and turned up my chap. Curious that I got a hit! Forgot to double check it was the same chap as yours!

This all just gets curiouser and curiouser. It now appears I started a thread on RAF Commands regarding Harry Pearson over a year ago. He was lost apparently on a sortie to the Norwegian coast in Liberator FL391. I have no idea why I was interested in him then.
My memory is definitely slipping.
Thanks for the help.

George William Lewis was lost in Mosquito IV DZ371 XD-A whilst on an operation to Eindhoven. The aircraft was hit by flak near Den Helder on the return leg. The pilot, who also died, was F/O J E O’Grady, RCAF.
Just Harry Pearson to go now.

Icare9.
My man was definitely George William Lewis who died 6/12/42. Even his family address fits. Your Geoffrey Lewis was some two years later.

Hi, not sure if it helps or is a red herring, but Sgt Lewis is buried in UK, presumably near his parents home.
Name: LEWIS, GEOFFREY WILLIAM
Initials: G W
Nationality: United Kingdom

Either his Navigator successfully baled or he may have died subsequently from injuries. I found one, near in date and also UK burial, so may have been involved:-

It seems I asked about Charles Ernest Forrest before on RAF Commands and received the information that he had been lost in a Hudson accident. I’m confused now by the fact that although his name sounded familiar I have no recollection whatsoever of looking at his death before.
A senior moment.
