Any of you guys with Vampire cockpits or full aircraft
we have just carefully removed the radio equipment and
a lot of instruments from the cockpit of a T11 for a guy who
is having his cockpit converted into a simulator by someone.
If anyone needs main flying panel instruments in good order.
An Inverter in good order or Both the radios TR1985 and TR1986
please pm for photo’s etc. Also some cockpit panel lights etc.
The radios are working or at least one was checked not to long ago and
powered up and working on three frequencies the previous owner wanted.
We got them out rather that some person ripping them out.

Jon and Bruce – thanks for that.
Jon if I see a short nose around I shall ask on your behalf (but don’t hold your breath !!)
OK Firebex looks like CF out of the picture – thanks anyway.
Saw in one of the new mags that Bournemouth Museum are starting(?) on restoration of their T.11

This sort of thing is fine – in fact I wonder if we should have a dedicated thread for it. I’ll get back to you!
That was exactly what was discussed before and refused, remember the ‘wants/disposals’ thread discussion?!!
It works well enough on Cockpitfest.
Oops I said something else:o

As the first person to respond was a moderator, I think it can be assumed that its OK!
As mods, we frown on first time posters popping up and advertising, blatant links to ones own products or books, and blatant links to ones ebay sales.

Roger – Swiss Venom radios are completely different to the RAF type – the ones under the nose are UHF and IFF. There are four in total, and are not easy to find (I have a set for our Venom!). I do have one spare, but not sure which off hand. There is also a VHF radio inside the rear hatch, which are similar, but not identical to the RAF ones.

some good points raised.
obviously stating a price is indeed an advert but ive seen many threads such as this offering parts to those in need which is laudable and should be encouraged especially since jumbles are near extinction and net auctions take over
that said, a grey area is brand new members whose first post is asking to identify say… a wheel and tyre and asking what monetary value it has or for offers to be made by getting in touch

Was helping out on a Venom nose at Airbase that is being prepared to go on display.
It is (I think) missing it’s radios. Am I right in thinking they go in the two squarish hatches either side just aft of the seat? Don’t know if they are the same as a T.11’s and I don’t know if they are needed – will enquire.
Roger Smith.
Hi Roger the two I removed this morning mount under the nose on the T11 and mount against the front bulkhead. They are TR1985 and TR1986 if that helps.

That will be a swiss Venom nose so not sure RAF equipment will fit?
Whilst on the subject of CF and Venoms, I dont suppose you have seen a spare top half of a “stubby” nose cone lying around? Looking for this to marry up with the bottom half I already have to go on VZ193 🙂
Jon
Hi Jon speak to the guys at Dumfries and Galoway aviation museum they had a nose cone top I think when we visited to sort some Vampir estuff cant remember if it was two seat or single seat but might be worth giving them a bell.

If there was an issue it would have been removed right away. I will check with the mods but nowhere does it mention prices or anything that would fall under the rules. There have been a few threads recently that have things going spare etc that creep under the radar recently. maybe its a good thing

Oh dear sorry have I started something ???
No, well maybe something good!
Like I say I support what you are doing, but I hope this is a new trend as like I say a wants/disposals (non profit making of course) type thread was judged as not allowed. As you point out, whats the difference between aircraft parts and APs?
Anyway that is all I will say, don’t want things getting silly around here.

Well this is where a descission needs to be made.
I’m all for threads like this and I’m glad that Firebex can put the bits on here and that others can benefit from it, but I and others have had to withdraw similar posts in the past, and when it was even put to the mods that we should have a non profit making ‘exchange’ or ‘diposals’ thread, it was kicked firmly out of town!Right, who needs some instruments, mainly Spitfire I’m told!

If there was a discussion about the matter I would support a none profit parts exchange . We all help each other out with photo’s copies of manuals and information some of it very technical. It may be a bit of a grey line but is there much difference ?.
Perhaps the moderators would support or consider a future discussion thread on a sensible level ?.

What a shame.
Also dosen’t this sail awfully close to the strict forum advertising guidelines that some of us have been picked up on before?
Sorry if I am treading on a line somewhere but I know there are a few guys who post on here who have Vampires .I do not know exactly who they are from memory and rather than this stuff be ripped out by some one we removed it and I am enquiring if anyone can make use of it to contact me and I can pass it on to the owner etc.
I have not gone into specifics and neither have I posted fees, prices or anything that could be considered perhaps to be selling direct on this forum.
I do note an number of exchanges for folks asking for parts and offering to supply parts on this forum ?.
I am sure if I have done something wrong one of the moderators will correct me and I apologise in advance.

Hi Mike,
If you have any of it, I could do with any electrical junction boxes; particularly the gunsight controllers, with wiring from under the floor, along with the fuse boxes behind the seats, and the main engine bay junction box on the rear of the firewall.
