Warbird? Over Welwyn

I saw a WW2 fighter-sized aircraft flying East over Welwyn Garden City around1 O’Clock that sounded very healthy. I think it had a radial engine, but can’t be sure. Can anyone shed any light on what it might’ve been?

I was hoping it might be the Bearcat, but you’re probably right, ‘Regal! I’d forgotten about the Pitts, strange really, it goes up most days!- I will be looking out for Yaks and Spartans now though!

It was too high for Panshanger-and I only ever see Cessnas and Pipers going into there:(

plus the based Extra and Pitts – and Mark Jeffries pops in for a cup of tea occasionally, also I’ve seen the Spartan from L.Gransden in there.
Suggest what you may have seen this morning, Oxy old chap, was the Duxford-based T.28. Suprised I didn’t hear it, but at the time I was deep into the Internet, sourcing a new stylus for my ancient K-9.
