Battle of Barking creek

I’m sure most of you are aware of the battle of barking creek, i have silly questions to ask about it..
Firstly, why did Group Captain Lucking send up a further 6 hurricanes, when only 6 were ordered up.
and finally, why weren’t the unidentified aircraft picked up by Radar, what went wrong there?
