Jet Provost over Thirsk North Yorks

Rathersupprised to see a JP in the distance heading towards Thirsk around Lunch time today estimate around 3-4k in Red and white scheme think it was a Mk4 but not sure as looking from an angle.

I know there used to be one based Newcastle way but thought that had moved on long ago ?.

Anyone any ideas ?

As for the take off mmm Cosford got it a bit wrong and refueled me twice! so i was a bit heavy for the display.
]

Blimey, I wish that happenend to me at the pumps!
When I saw the take-off I turned to my partner and uttered that it brought back a few JP memories!
Also I don’t know if you’re aware but you caught the commentator out! He ushered in one of your flypasts by saying you would conduct it with the canopy open, but you didn’t, and then he joked you didn’t like tha damp, which caused a giggle in the crowd!

I have got a few more pics, but they are shabby due to my awful lens and the weather getting darker by the minute.

Nice show Neil, good to see that a single JP can still hold it’s own in a display routine, I had forgotten about the take-off performance though!:)

Geordie JP

Neil McCarthy was flying her at the weekend. He now has CAA approval to carry out full aeros. There are no plans for this JP3 to leave the North East anytime soon!

That would account for it then thanks guys its just the direction of travel from where I was near Ripon and he appeared to be going West -East .Towards Thirsk but it must have been Leeming and Topcliffe circuit traffic that routed him that way.

And I thought I had read somewhere thatthe Newcastle based aricraft had moved ?.

Sounds like Jet Provost T.3 XM479 returning home to Newcastle from yesterdays Cosford show.

Sorry for the shocking pic quality but the W/X was deteriorating rapidly!
