New Camera + Duxford – 04Jun10

Wasn’t intending going to Duxford today but my trusty and ever faithful Sony Alpha 350 didn’t survive our little accident last Friday. As Sony no longer make the A350, I went to try out its replacement, a Sony Alpha 550, which was the nearest I could get to a camera that had all the functions of the A350.

As I was arriving at Duxford, I could see the Catalina disappearing into the east. It was followed by Sally B, which flew off to the east , and about an hour later the Sabre took off and flew east. They were all heading for Skydstrup in Denmark for an air show. The Grace Spitfire went up twice with a couple of passengers on board. Subject to all sorts of things, ‘Frankie’ might be going for a test flight Saturday.

Despite a few iffy shots at the beginning, I was quite impressed with first try out of the camera and can only get better from here on.

Now you see it…….

……now you don’t.

Nice shots Brian, I don’t know if it’s just me but the colours look more natural with the new camera compared to some of your previous shots.

I was using the SIGMA 18-250mm HSM lens on the front and I have found that the colours produced from it are a lot warmer than if I used a Sony lens. If that makes sence.:D

Great pictures as usual. 😀 Caviar for the eyes.
Thanks for posting your “first tries”, lol. Better still than others can do at all.
Can´t wait to see more of your pics.

Yes I like that too. I like seeing those smoky starts that radials are so fond of. I’m also amused by the different lengths of time it takes from engine to engine to get all the cylinders singing the same song instead of sulking in the background. Nice picture as always the more the merrier.

Was it something you said?!

Nice work, specially that start-up shot, sure you’ll soon have it tamed. And glad you’re back on the bimble 🙂
