404 Sqdn RCAF Beaufighter

Does anyone know the squadron code for the Beaufighter Jezebel flown by F/O JR Savard ? Photo half way down this linked page.

Interesting that in the photo album the squadron codes on Beaufighters with D-Day stripes are two tone ( Red/Yellow) – where as the books say they are black…

I have contacted the squadron historian via the link page but no answer.

Thanks Edgar – applying logic – Jezebel would probably only be applied to aircraft J or Z.

So I think a fair assumption is that it was NV416 EE J as you have discovered from the ORB.

The ORB doesn’t help much, since Savard flew (mostly) NV416 “J”, but also flew NV422 “C” 29-1-45; NT890 “F” 5-2-45, and NV292 “O”, on 9-2-45, and that was the a/c in which he went missing on that day.
