ARCo Come Out To Play, Again – 28May10

First off a public thank you to every one at Duxford who attended This Incident on Friday as I was one of the three members of the public caught up in it. Special thanks to the Duxford Fire Crew who were quickly on the scene and administered first aid before the Paramedics arrived and the Paramedic who looked after me when shock kicked in and of course to the nice Duxford lady handing out the tea afterwards. A cure all to everything and greatly appreciated.

Anyhoo

On Friday afternoon, the T.9 Spitfire seemed to be playing a central part in some filming that was taking place both on the ground and from a helicopter camera ship. It flew quite a few times during that period. John Romain went up in the Buchon and Dave Ratcliff in the Mk XVI Spitfire with some nice aerobatics thrown in from both of them.

Great shots Brian!-what lens(es?) were you using?

After reading up on it, I had another go with the Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM attached to my Sony Alpha 450 body.

I’m sure the ARCo boys did their homework on the Buchon’s paintscheme…. 😉

However, if you think about it, the Buchons in the film started off nice and clean. A few months of hard film work would certainly put paid to that! 😉

Thanks, of course you are right about that. I never even thought about it…. 😮

Brian,

Here’s to a speedy recovery to you & all involved, thanks again for some wonderful photo’s – all the better for the cracking weather.

I must admit the shot of the T.9 in ?? B of B colours looks very impressive with the underside hiding the second canopy, but the star as got to be the last one- ‘could almost have been taken in ’68 or ’69.;)

Just had another look at the T.9 photo & just noticed the bird flying across- didn’t see that 1st time.:D

Thanks for your brilliant pics, I hope you are well again by now. I do have a question regarding the paintjob on the Buchon. I like it very well, it is just as it was for the BoB filming, but…. Well, it seems to be quite glossy to me, IIRC, the paint for the film were matt, not glossy at all. Or is my memory playing a trick, it´s been a long time since I´ve seen it last??? Maybe they just applied some extra polish lately, lol.

Agree with that!

I’m guessing the film work was for the First Light production….? I say that because the Tr.9 didn’t have the machine-gun patches on the wings in the last lot of photos (so far as I could see!).
