Going off memory here but wasn,t there a company that produced full scale fibreglass replica Rolls Royce Merlins?

But a lot heavier! I dont have any way of moving about a complete engine.
I suppose my Bank Balance would be quite light How much does minus £3400 weigh!
Pretty heavy …. actually I’m with Tony on this, I sold an empty Merlin about 3-4 years ago for 2k, externally complete and mounted on a trolley, probably weighed about 1/4 of a whole one.
I bet the fibreglass ones aren’t that light, and you still have to get one of them out to the colonies; Ross, I wouldn’t have thought there would be a great difference in the price for shipping.

Yeah but we aren,t getting any younger.Plus they are pretty thin on the ground down here in Aussie. 🙂

They are not too bad on trolleys, or without internals Robert

Yes chaps, but would you really pay £3.5k for a replica? Could put together a reasonable static for that?! The parts on Ebay would have been cheaper

I’ve emailed for pictures with no result? I would be a bit wary as he hasn’t any feedback related to these engines at all……………
Yes its a bit odd that they cannot supply photographs of the replica. A quick 2 minute job with a mobile phone is all that’s required. Even pictures of the moulds might re-assure people. No matter how much I might want one I would want to see evidence of actual replicas. Wonder if he would allow someone local to view?

So has anyone bought one or seen one in the flesh?

There is this company on ebay at present. They suppy a fibreglass merlin XX. Was this used in Spitfires> I would like a Merlin III but I dont know enough about Merlins to say if this replica is accurate. Indeed I would prefer to see more photos of an actual replica before even thinking about making a purchase.

I have tried to get some pictures from them but they just keep insisting that the Merlin X in the photo is the replica, which it isn`t!
It is a shame because the idea is a good one, I know people who would buy them at that price no problem at all.
