Hangar 11 news

Hi
Just posting this from the Hangar 11 news.

LATEST NEWS FROM HANGAR 11

May 25, 2010

Hangar 11 Collection supporter’s club membership has now closed.

We had stated day one that we wanted to limit membership and we are now satisfied that we have as many members as we can handle.

Supporters are now based in the UK and many European countries as well as Canada, Australia and the USA. A big thank you to all who have joined and supported us.

We are “almost” at the point where we can announce our special supporter’s club day at Hangar 11. Fact is that this season has been rather frustrating in terms of the delays to firming up our airshow schedule. It seems that in 2009 the industry was in denial about the recession and the season was largely unaffected from our standpoint. However during 2010 it has all come to roost and that has resulted in extended delays to finalising where we are flying. All of the above has been further exacerbated by the RAF not knowing what assets were available till very late in the year plus the ongoing “will she or wont she” saga of the Vulcan.

We expect our date to be a weekend in August or September and will be the opportunity to get up close and personal with our unique collection of aircraft and to chat to the team that makes it happen.

Several new images have been added to the website under the “ inside Hangar images” and as you will see we are progressing well on most fronts. Our P40 Kittyhawk came back on line on 19th May and in her first 5 days on line, she flew 3 displays and a total of 7 legs, so back with a bang J

Our P51 “ Jumpin Jacques” is now next in the queue for her Annual inspection and we expect to undertake that when the Spitfire is back in the air so she will be ready for her many airshow commitments.

Progress on the Spitfire has been a little slower than expected but we are only interested in perfection, so that takes a little longer to achieve. As such, we have had to stand down from our first 3 displays for her in June 2010 and have passed the work to friends who will deputise. She is expected at Biggin Hill at end June, all being well.

More news will follow later in the week and we hope to see you at a show soon
