I’ve had several email questions via my website on the Fairchild C-82
lately asking about what grade of aluminium was used to build this
aircraft. Not knowing myself, I thought I’d ask around to see who
might know.
Presumably it would be the same grade(s) other WW2 era aircraft
used at about this time like the P-51 and B-29 etc.?

I’m sure you’ve checked Lloyd’s excellent book…Fairchild C-82 Packect & C-199 Flying Boxcar.
But in case you haven’t…it’s not in there.

A good source of info relating to materials used would be a C-82 Structural Repair Manual (SRM). These list material specs for the various parts of the aircraft structure.
