Don’t Panic ! Don’t Panic !! Yes the Nimrod has been moved to the museums extension area, I just happened to go to the museum after closing time on another matter and saw the tail of the Nimrod over the fence ! Managed to get a couple of ,not very well positioned, photos ! will try to get something better in the next few days…..

I flew out of Norwich Almost-Moribund International on FlyBe this Tuesday and couldn’t see the Nimrod anywhere (Though I was sat on the terminal side of the a/c for take-off rather than the museum side.)

Nimrod Moved?
Our works delivery driver has just got back from Norfolk and tells me that the Norwich Nimrod wasn’t where it was parked today. Can a local say if it has been moved either to the museum or somewhere else on Norwich airport?

Joe Petroni. Sorry !! Had to laugh big time !!! Wasn’t aimed at you but the other Joe P …… Joe Public ….. Lets hope it draws extra people to our local museum ?

Blue 2. Yup ! all for me me me :diablo: It will be interesting to see if the local museum are going to open it to Joe P
Hope so never been in a Nimrod!
Where abouts is it parked in relation to the museum ? Looking on Google, there don’t appear to be any, even overgrown, hardstandings that close.
It is parked in the north-west corner, on one of the old loop dispersals I think (where the F100’s are shown on Google Earth). You can see it from the Cromer Road.

😮 What me? 😀
Not every one!!

How on earth can we forget, you mention the place on every thread, wether there is a connection or not!
By: TwinOtter23 - 25th May 2010 at 12:14
I was out as well!
However I’m reliably informed that they literally ‘turned up’ at Newark one day and things moved on from there!
No problem Blue 2 – I just didn’t want anyone to forget NAM!! 😀

Thanks for the info. Guess I was ‘out’ when the team visited! 😀
Cheers.

IIRC last summer a ‘multi-department team’ visited various potential host museums / locations to canvas interest – IIRC this was a first! 🙂

Sorry T/O, I meant flying MR2 deliveries, should’ve been clearer. My bad! 😮
By: TwinOtter23 - 25th May 2010 at 11:39
Still possible! 😀
By: Blue_2 - 25th May 2010 at 11:36
So is there just the Cosford one (direct or otherwise) and the Manston one left to deliver now?

Does anyone know when the Nimrod will be open to the public at the Museum ?
Cheers Terry

I’m glad you did, and it shouldn’t be a reflection on the museum, it is in such stark contrast to the picture a bove it – just sums up the Nimrods unhappy withdrawal really.

Blue 2. Yup ! all for me me me :diablo: It will be interesting to see if the local museum are going to open it to Joe P, and how much will remain inside ??? and can I sit in the drivers seat and go ‘brum brum’ :p
pagen01. Yes ! I have a very negative feel about that photo as well, maybe shouldn’t have posted it ?
But on the bright side I think that must be Norwich Cathederal spire almost at the end of the Stbd wing  :

Great pics, it’s strange but in that last pic it has that ‘dead’ feel to it already.
