Does anyone know of a uk supplier of these quick release catches with which I can begin to overhaul the panels on WR963?
So many of the ones on the aircraft are rusted and horribly stiff!
as well as this is there a kit to fit them with?
Cheers

If you want DZUS fasteners, then you need to talk to the people at SouthCo on 0845 1179222.
They are very helpful and they are based in Worcs I believe.

Cheers chaps
The ones we have mainly, are the countersunk ones for almost all of the cowling panels and the domed ones for the aft panels around the leading edge and rear nacelle.
Ill get some photos up as soon as I can get up to the aircraft!
All of the offers for help are hugely appreciated! I love this forum!
All the best

If you could post a picture or give me some sizes I’ll see what I have left.

Nash, post a picture of the ones youre talking about, presumably the top cowling catches? we’re in the process of replacing all of em on 982. i dont know how many we have , so no promises. but if they are the same ones, and we have enough we might be able to spare some..

OK – call me silly, but as you are not intending to fly her ( yet…… 😉 ) would it be worth fitting the ‘wingnut’ style Dzeus – you’d not round those off again in a hurry.
Wouldn’t look quite as nice, but…..

Yes, they do that after a while, and were probably like it in service.
As has been said, LAS Aerospace are a good place to try – and its ‘DZUS’

never 😉
We’ve got plenty of proper DZUS screwdrivers! its just that rusty fasteners are not good! 🙁

what i meant is that the slots are about 5/6mm wide on some of them, the corrosion has caused the slots to break down 🙁
Then in that case please ignore me!

the problem is mate, that half of them are so badly corroded that the slot for the screwdriver is practically a dish 🙁
If you are using a dzus screwdriver then it should fit perfectly in the dished slot as they have a curved tip! 🙂

Yesterdays work day showed how bad some of them are, two popped straight out of the panels!

Not that easy to change – lots of WD40 – keep working them until they loosen up; then lots of grease on the catch and springs.
If you want to remove surface corrosion, get a spot blaster, and prime them straight away.
