We have recently traded for the ex Booker A-26 Cockpit (B-26) for display in the Wings Museum. The volunteers have now started work on it and it is my job to source parts and gather information. The latest query is whether or not the wartime A-26’s had any armor plate around the cockpit area? Some of the armor that was added prior to the Vietnam war has been applied directly over the wartime skins, where as in some areas the is no skin just armor plate? Anyway if anyone can confirm one way or another then we can decide what the best approach is.
Those that know this cockpit will be aware of the corrosion under the floor and in the wheel bay area. It is a challenging project for sure but hopefully we can finally make her presentable again.
Also if anyone knows of any cockpit fittings available (the originals have been stripped out over the years then please drop me a line.
