Peter Green was very generous with his time and he shared his resources with many – not just with authors and publishers but also with ordinary enthusiasts.
My own pet project was first put on a firm footing by Peter, who kindly granted me access to one of his rare resources and then helped me transcribe the data. I doubt I would have got anywhere with his generous help.
Some years back Peter was one of us invited to North Coates aerodrome to watch a fly-through by the Bristol Blenheim. He recalled the first time he had seen a Blenheim close up had been at North Coates in 1938. He had cycled from his Grimsby down a farm lane and watched the Blenheims through the hedge. As that lane was later removed when the airfield was expanded he noted we must have been a only few yards from the same spot some sixty-odd years later.
A true gentleman who will be sorely missed.
