It is with great sadness that I have to report that it looks like L R Hastings DFC joined BOAC as a Navigator post war and lost his life in the accident involving BOAC Lancastrian G-AGMF …. this aircraft came down near St Aubin -du-Thenney,France on the 20th Aug 1946 on the final leg of a training flight Karachi – Hurn !
So whatever the cause of this Officers Court Martial/Cashiering – it was not deemed serious enough to prevent employment by BOAC ,although as often in life it is sometimes ones personal contacts that help with jobs etc !
Hastings death does seem to be confirmed in the book about Jack Mossop DFC DFM (W Op) ‘A Pathfinder’s Story’ – he also lost his life in this accident.
