Not been to that one, I understand it was shattered on impact. It was part of exercise Beechers Brook, the name given to the ferry operation staging into the Uk via Kinloss.

Thanks for the info Scotavia..Think I,ll have a few days in the Grantown hills this summer, and a trot in the half mile at the highland games.Have you visited the crash site XB610 F-86 Sabre at Glen Gheallaidh Burn? Thanks again Dave.

Station flight RNAS Lossiemouth, it is the nearest wreck to my home in Grantown. The pilot needed only another 50 feet to be clear of the summit and then nothing between him and the coast. It was raining with cloud covering the tops, I spoke to the owners of the nearby farm, they heard the jet pass over low, then the silence, followed later by a strong smell of fuel.

There is wreckage, but not at the summit, a six foot section of engine cowling lies in a boggy bit between the summit and farm track to the East behind the abondoned croft.
