Hi everyone. New member ( but been reading the forum for a long time!)
Does anyone know about a ME109 ( Bf 109) that crashed just south of Newick in Sussex sometime during the war? My elderly Aunt told me a few years ago that the crash happened and that the pilot baled out and was caught by the locals and held guarded by pitchfork(!) in the local manor house until taken away. Rumour has it he was given a cup of tea while he waited! (very British) I assume this to be during the Battle of Britain, but may have been later. Any information would be appreciated. A Doodlebug also crashed less than a mile up the road killing the local chemist – this must have been much later
